Kelly Duke to Serve 30 years for Hit-and-Run Killing Muskego Business Owners

The 17-year-old was found guilty in October of killing the couple while driving drunk, and fleeing the scene on New Year's day 2012

Kelly Duke will receive 30 years in prison for the drunken hit and run accident that resulted in the deaths of Ed and Jean Thaves on New Years Day 2011, according to Fox 6 News.

Duke was found guilty on two charges of homicide in October. He had been charged with nine offenses before he reached a plea agreement, and had entered no-contest pleas to two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, one count of hit-and-run involving death and to the misdemeanor charge of knowingly driving with a suspended license, causing great bodily harm.

The New Berlin couple owned the S.C Chemical Company, which manufactures coolants, cleaners, rust preventives and specialty chemicals in Muskego. The name of the company, according to their website, was a reflection of Thaves' faith, and stood for 'serving Christ.'

The couple was killed in the early morning hours of New Year's Day while they waited at a stop light, and the car driven by Kelly Duke, 17, jumped the median and struck their vehicle, according to reports.
