Last Chance: Estate Sale, Recall Registration, Taxes
It may be a week of vacation, but deadlines still loom....what do you need to remember before you've missed one?

What deadlines are coming this week?
In this era of perpetual elections, it's worthy to note that if you have been toying with the idea of throwing your hat in the gubernatorial race - primary will be held on May 8 - you're running out of time. New candidates must register their campaign committee with the Government Accountability Board, Ethics and Accountability Division on-line no later than 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
The mother of all estate sales is in Muskego this week, and if you arrive at 4:01 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, you'll have missed it. Called the the sale features two levels of collectables from decades of....collecting. Along with an impressive collection of Lionel trains (in their original boxes if the pictures are accurate) there are household items, vintage radios, outboards, clocks, signs, etc. Monday and Tuesday the hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday they are open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The income tax deadline is also looming, but the good news is that it's not April 15. Due to the 15th falling on a Sunday, and Emancipation Day in Washington, DC (a DC-only holiday) is observed on Monday April 16th, the official filing deadline will move to the next business day which is Tuesday, April 17th. For you serious procrastinators, postmarks do count, and the Milwaukee downtown post office will have workers available to take your taxes (if you still use snail mail, and if you owe, why not?) until 11:59 p.m.
