Last Chance: Public Input on Tess Corners Drive Path, Scholarships, Plant Sales
Time's running out on a few things this week, including input on where you stand on the Tess Corners Drive bike path, scholarship opportunities and plant sales in anticipation of spring planting season.

College-bound?
Many scholarships are available, but only if you apply, and only if you apply ON TIME. This week, a $450 and a $200 scholarship will be awarded by Waukesha County Labor Council AFL-CIO. Scholarships are limited to members of families who belong to a local union affiliated with them. Any student who is a senior in any high school graduating between Jan. 1 and July 1, 2012 whose parent or guardian is a member of a local union affiliated with the Waukesha County Labor Council AFL-CIO may apply The applicant must rank in the upper ½ of their graduating class. Deadline is April 23, 2012.

Beautify your yard with native plants from Wehr Nature Center Mother’s Day Weekend Plant Sale. Native plants suitable for sun or shade and wet or dry will be available for purchase. This is a very popular sale so come early for the best selection. Pick up an Early Preorder Form from the Nature Center. This will help assure (but not guarantee) your selections ahead of time. Deadline for early orders is Friday, April 27.
In addition, there is a one-day only sale Saturday, April 28 (8 a.m. to 12 noon) sponsored by the Muskego Kiwanis Club of colorado blue spruce seedlings:
12" to 16" seedlings for $2 each
16" to 20" seedlings for $4 each
Sales are featured at Pick 'n' Save in Muskego and Speedway in New Berlin (corner of Moorland and Beloit Roads)
In addition to trees, they also have cocoa bean mulch for $4 a bag (2 cubic feet).
Open enrollment: April 30 is the deadline for the state's Open Enrollment program, to seek enroll in a public school district other than your own.
