Meeting Preview: Council Hopes to Sort Out Lake Park Issue, Tie Loose Ends on Other Projects

Unfinished business on lake park development will take center stage at Muskego Common Council Tuesday night.

The Muskego Common Council will convene at on Tuesday at 7 p.m. (or shortly after the 6:30 p.m. Finance Committee meeting) and it's hoped that resolutions surrounding the proposed lake park purchase can be finally discussed and voted on.

could be delayed if the council agrees on language for a resolution that would postpone the deadline to close on the property until Sept. 30. as well as funding a study to gather costs on a park development beyond the sale of the land.

In addition, awill be discussed. The petition contained 3,409 signatures from residents, but was deemed "insufficient" by the city's legal counsel and not a proper subject for direct legislation because aldermen had already voted to purchase the lake property.

The resolution had been deferred from the council's special session on Feb. 22, and could not be discussed at the Feb. 28 meeting as there was not a full body of the council present.

The will require temporary easements and other fees to be paid at various sites along the route. A relocation order is therefore required to begin the process of acquiring access to the land to install the paved path.

by the county has prompted a request to form a two-party construction agreement between the city of Muskego and Waukesha County. Items that would normally fall under the city's jurisdiction would be the responsibility of the county. The logic is to eliminate the need for two general contractors on the project, hence lowering costs. Landscaping, sidewalks, street lighting and water main relocation would be included under the proposed agreement.
