Meeting Preview: Little Muskego Lake District Tackles Familiar Issues

Unemployment issues and continuing development of Calhoun Creek land will be on the agenda.

The list of items isn't long, and seem to have a familiar ring, as the Little Muskego Lake District board meets Thursday night to cover employment issues and Calhoun Creek, the 40 acre acquisition in New Berlin that will be used by the LMLD for weed tipping and maintenance by the Muskego Lakes Land Conservancy.

Some of the items listed under 'old business':

  • Status of the road at Calhoun Creek: LMLD has been told that the MLLC would pay for the construction of a 50-foot paved entry, culvert and gate. Details on the remaining roadway have been under discussion, and with spring coming, will need to be finalized if they are to happen in 2012.
  • New harvester: . Depending on the size of the cutter (nine or 10 feet) estimates came in at $162,000 to $184,000. In addition, the LMLD was looking into a grant opportunity offered through the state, which may cover up to half the cost.
  • Unemployment claims have been a concern for the LMLD, and the board including contracting with a staffing service, and applying with the state as a seasonal business.
  • Goose permission slips: historically there has been a goose round up and the LMLD has asked for permission to gain access to properties around the lake in order to gather the geese.

The board will meet in the Alderman's room at at 7pm, and the public is invited to attend.
