Meeting Preview: Muskego Committee of the Whole Continues Budget Talks, Council Discusses Appointments, Borst Purchase

City convenes to tackle water, sewer and operating budgets for 2012, and later considers the latest offer in the Borst property purchase.

The Muskego Committee of the Whole continues its budget review for 2012, with Tuesday night's focus on operating, water and sewer utility budgets.  Should additional work be required at the 6pm meeting, the committee may reconvene after the Common Council meeting at 7pm.

The Common Council's agenda is relatively short, but includes the following items of note:

Appointments to the Community Development Authority and the Library Board.  These are citizen appointments, and previous discussion has involved debate on whether citizens must be required to reside in Muskego.

Easements allowing WE Energies access to city property are up for approval as well, and indicate the utilities construction involved prior to the .  Property by the library as well as near the corner of Martin Drive and Janesville will be needed to allow for crews to bury cables this year in anticipation of road construction on the eastern half of the Janesville corridor.

An offer to purchase is back on the table from the Borst property.  This 108-acre section of land was bid on by the city for use as a natural park area, and provides vital access to the Little Muskego Lake watershed. for $1.24 million, or $11,063 per acre.

The much-debated Tuesday night as well. Voters in 2012 will notice some changes to their polling places and representative aldermen, so be aware of that next spring.

Finally, should the Finance Committee approve the resolution, a resolution of necessity will be voted on for a possible purchase of Boxhorn boat launch.
