Meeting Preview: Muskego Parks Board Talks Winter
From snow removal and access to parks by the Icetronauts, the board looks to the next season; further out, pickleball interest gets another look.

The Muskego Parks and Recreation Board will meet Monday evening at 5:45 p.m. at City Hall, with more than a hint of snow in the air.
The board will take up discussion on clearing of snow from trails and developing a priority list for snow removal in general. Last year, some parks like Bluhm Farm did not have clear parking lots until many weeks after the February blizzard.
In addition, the access to parks by the Muskego Icetronauts Snowmobile Club will also be on the agenda. While the city has long since enjoyed the sport, concerns over what use by the machines can mean within the parks, even if to provide trail access and parking for vehicles with trailers remains on the board's radar.

As the new winter/spring program guide from the Parks department is also upcoming, a new sport will be evaluated to see if space should be allowed for it in the parks. Pickleball was first introduced in the summer of 2011, and parks officials were told the courts weren't painted correctly. Whether interest is high enough to pursue the sport was asked of from the public in the fall program guide, and those results will weigh in their decision.
The Parks department's 'front burner' project, Park Arthur, will also be updated, including a discussion on the College Avenue entrance and baseball field development. The entrance raised concern after it was paved, as some felt it encouraged 'off roading' in the park by four-wheel drive vehicles. However, Parks Director Craig Anderson has stated that access to the park by such vehicles has come from areas that aren't designated as entrances, and fencing the entire park would be cost-prohibitive.
