Meeting Preview: Muskego Plan Commission Hears More On Borst, Lalicata Properties, and Reviews Improvements to Kohl's

One of the city's largest land purchases requires rezoning prior to completion of the sale, and one of Muskego's largest retailers looks to make updates.

The Plan Commission will meet Tuesday night at at 6 p.m. Included on their agenda are two properties that have recently made progress at council, and another that is the largest retail property on Janesville Road.

On Nov. 22, the council heard the reading of the ordinance allowing for the rezoning of the Borst property, located off of Hillendale Drive and Field Drive. This action was required as part of the purchase agreement between the city and Nancy Borst.  The commission will hear the logistics involved behind revised rezoning lines as well as new property boundary lines to make the purchase a reality.

The Borst property has been deemed environmentally significant to the Little Muskego Lake watershed, and will be developed in part as a natural area for passive recreation like hiking.

The Lalicata property, which many may also know as the triangular piece of land that the Sauced restaurant resides on, was also approved to change its zoning from residential to a local service center district, which could potentially allow for other commericial development. With this change, an amendment to the city's 2020 comprehensive plan will also need to be made. Depending on the nature of improvements to the building and the site, the Plan Commission may need to approve the building, site, and operation plan before any future changes occur.

Finally, Kohl's is looking to update its facade.  The improvements would be  focused on the entrance and exit ways and include new framing over the existing structure, new steel plate column wraps over the existing columns, two new tube steel eyebrows and new aluminum panels.
