Meeting Preview: Muskego Public Library Board To Discuss Concealed Carry, E Readers

Agenda item suggests the issue is not closed regarding concealed carry, and a capital request for an investment in e readers indicates the need to stay relevant.

Normally, we haven't kept up with Library Board meetings, but a couple of agenda items have caught our eye, both of which are definite signs of the times.

Under old business, the board will discuss a resolution for allowing concealed carry.  Many other communities have issued across the board bans for any public buildings, however Muskego has been adopting a 'wait and see' mentality.  The way it's stated, the resolution looks like it will also allow for the concealed carry within library walls.

Also garnering our attention is a capital expense request for eBook readers, which is in part in response to what patrons would like to see in the library.  The advent of Kindle, Nook and others have threatened the beloved hardcover and paperback, and rather that fight the trend, libraries have begun to answer demand.

We will be following up on these items...if you would like to sit in on the meeting, the library board meets at 5:30 p.m. in the Muskego Public Library Monday night, October 31 in meeting room #6.
