Missing Puppy Tale has a Happy Ending

Owners thank the community for making this a good news story after losing their puppy for about 3 days

Editor's note: It's extremely Patchy to help out neighbors, and in this case it was an honor to help make a scary experience for any pet owner one that has a happy ending. I received the following email from Cassey Dutton of West Allis, who has been reunited with her dog from Muskego:

First of all, thank you to the amazing Muskego community. The neighbors, Muskego kids searching high and low, the mailman, public works employees, police department, local businesses like guys at Officemax letting us use the tables to make flyers.

Thank you to people driving by offering support as we put out signs while searching, and to our West Allis neighbor across the street who cleared out our snow. Thanks to Denise Konkol at the Muskego Patch and Cindy our caseworker from Lost Dogs of Wisconsin. Thanks everyone who called checking to see if we found him or those who did see him to help out. Thank you to the entire facebook community. And thank you to Denise Dropik, Mike, and Luke, perfect strangers who helped finally get him in the middle of Little Muskego Lake. Thank you for the prayers and the positive thinking everyone has sent our way.

A special thank you to our friends and family for your help and support. Thank you to Courtney and Dan, our parents Wendy Ron and Denny, Kyle and Danielle, Paul and Maggie, Krista, Dee, Carmen, Patrice, Julie and Justin, coworkers for lending support, and so many more. Thank you to everyone for coming together to get the most amazing outcome we could imagine.

And here's the end to Wesley's Adventure:

Cassey got a call at 3:30 p.m. Thursday from a Muskego resident, Denise Dropik, who spotted and tried to catch Wesley in her yard and also stated that her kids and other schoolkids and saw him as well between Thornapple Trail and Tans Drive. Cassey and Courtney arrived and a nice gentleman told them that Wes crossed Racine Avenue toward Hillendale Drive.

They found his tracks and parked at Mug-Z's Pub and saw him for the first time in the yard of the house across the street. He was on another side of a fence, and by the time they got around, he was uncertain and ran towards Maple Drive and to Little Muskego Lake. At this time Cassey received a number of calls from amazing people stating where they had just seen him, and people came out of their houses to let us know that they saw him run across the lake.

Cassey's husband Tim's dad called and said Wes is running toward a house on an island. Tim was already on the lake, started running and waved down a guy on a yellow snowmobile, jumped on the back, and went to the island on the other side of the lake. In the meantime, Tim's dad located Wes under a deck of the house there.

As Tim and his new snowmobile friend Luke pull up, they see Wesley running away from the island. Tim jumps off the snowmobile as Luke can't go any further into the center of the lake, and he goes around to corner him/get him to come toward Tim. A fisherman a couple hundred yards away came to help, so Luke and Tim start pushing him towards "fisherman Mike."

By this time, Wes was getting tired now, and Mike played it perfect, walking behind his truck, with Wesley walking up to it and laying down under it to rest. Mike grabs him, and it's craziness! Mike gave Tim a ride back to Cassey and everyone else, and he was elated to see his entire family.

Wes has lost a bit of weight, and some of his legs are worn raw most likely due to the ridiculous amount of ground he has covered. Wesley is happy to be home, warm and washed up and with some food in him, and he's currently passed out on the bed.

Thank you so much.  We are beyond ecstatic.
