Morning Rain Doesn't Lift Muskego's Fireworks & Burning Ban

Even after a brief morning sprinkle, Muskego says the burning and fireworks ban is still in effect.

Muskego residents who may have gotten hopeful after seeing a rain shower this morning will be disappointed to hear the is still in effect.

That means residents are strictly prohibited from burning things like a brush pile, fire pits or campfires. In addition, police will be on the lookout for people lighting off fireworks for the Fourth of July, giving citations to anyone who is caught.

“We got about a few minutes of rain this morning, but the fire chief said it's going to take a lot more than that to make a difference," said Mayor Kathy Chiaverotti.

However, Muskego's on Tuesday night is still moving forward as planned, as the show will be set off from a barge floating on Little Muskego Lake.
