Move Over, Motorists! Janesville Road Shifts Construction to North Side

Despite large electronic signs announcing that traffic patterns are changing, it appears motorists are still trying to use the 'old side' of Janesville Road in the construction zone. Please use the newly paved, south side lanes to avoid accidents.

Some of you couldn't wait to use the newly-paved and reconstructied side of Janesville Road along the construction zone from Lannon Drive to Moorland Road. Others it seems, can't break an old habit.

Road crews have completed what could be seen as the half-way point in the road project for 2012, and have opened up the south side lanes to shift two-way trafic over. Large electronic signs posted last week announced the lanes shift effective August 6, but striping held off the official opening until today.

Some motorists are still attempting to use the closed side of Janesville, perhaps because it looks open from the side street they are entering from, or perhaps because they are trying to use it as a frontage road. However, make no mistake, you won't get far. Barricades, machinery and road crews will turn your vehicle around.

So, to reiterate: traffic entering Janesville Road from the north side needs to cross over the 'old section,' to reach the newly paved road before turning. In addition, not all side streets will be able to access Janesville Road, so please watch the signs.

As construction progresses it will become more obvious, but for now, if it looks old, don't drive on it.
