Muskego Business Owners' Family Releases Statement After Crash

S.C. Chemical Company owners Ed and Jean Thaves were killed in the New Year's Day crash, and family asks for privacy and to reserve judgment.

Ed and Jean Thaves died as a result of a collision as they sat waiting at a stop light early on New Year's day at the intersection of 27th Street and St. Paul Avenue. The 17-year-old driver of the other vehicle has been identified as Kelly Duke. He was charged Wednesday with seven felonies, including two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle

The couple owned S.C. Chemical Company in the Muskego Business Park, and the family recently issued a statement on the tragic events:

"Words do not seem adequate to express the loss of Ed and Jean in the tragic incident of New Year's Day.  We are thankful for the outpouring of kindness expressed by those who knew and loved them."

"We ask that at this time of overwhelming sadness, our privacy be respected so that we may honor and celebrate the lives of Ed and Jean.  We also ask no one judge the actions of the suspect in custody until all the facts in the case are known."
