Muskego Businesses Find Their Stride As They Plan for Jammin' 2012
A noticeable shift from shy to assertive has taken place, and that can only mean good things as the shovels are sharpened for 2012 Janesville Road construction.

I've volunteered to be a part of the 2012 Jammin' on Janesville Committee, which met yesterday, and the attendance and attitude was robust.
As coordinator last year, I have to say the hardest job was convincing businesses that people would attend. I recall one business owner telling me she just didn't see why anyone would come out to see her business.
However, three successful and safe events later, many were thrilled, surprised and a little emboldened to jump into 2012 planning for the mini festival. I told the business owners that it was a sad commentary for them to think anything other than success. They all should embrace promotion, and the city is lost without them.

The event, scheduled again for the first Fridays of June, July and August, will not be without major challenges: Janesville Road will indeed be under the knife and the south side lanes at that point will see upheaval from Moorland Road to Lannon Drive. However, the goal was to focus on the positive, what we can do with what we have in order to meet the demand to bring Jammin' on Janesville back.
Instead of selling the event, the challenge now is to temper the enthusiasm to do too much too soon. Some things will have to wait for the road to be completed.

Overall, it was fantastic to see these business leaders walk with a little swagger and confidence. That can only translate to the public that they have no plans to go anywhere, and to other businesses watching that they too might want to get in on the action.
In other words, jump in - the road construction, and doing business in Muskego is fine.
