Muskego Council Could Vote to Delay Purchase of Lake Parcels
Two resolutions on Feb. 28 agenda would delay purchase until after a November referendum, and terminate the resolution of necessity that began the purchase process.

The Muskego Common Council will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7pm at . The site is normally where the council meets, but since public interest in a decision over a purchase of lake property required a larger venue, it marks the first time since Jan. 10 that the council will occupy its 'home base.'
Tuesday's meeting is highlighted by what appears to be a change in direction on a for purposes of building a park. Two resolutions, each sponsored by Mayor Kathy Chiaverotti, would delay the offer to purchase, and terminate the resolution of necessity drafted back in September.
Since the council's vote on Jan. 24 to purchase the lake property, "circumstances have changed," reads the resolution to delay the purchase. "A although not regarding a proper subject matter for direct legislation, has been received and there is as well a public interest for additional information regarding the proposed purchase and park development," it states.

While the resolution recommends a delay until an advisory referendum is held in November of 2012, it advises that the referendum would be contingent upon Dilworths’ willingness to keep the property off the market until then.

The second resolution being introduced would then recommend "no further action should be taken" on the . This was voted on and passed on Sept. 27, 2011.
