Muskego Elementary News: Movin' n Munchin' Program Aims to Get Healthy

Our 'junior journalists' at Muskego Elementary inform us of the nutritional program, which could earn the school up to $500 and a healthier diet

Students and faculty at are taking part in the Movin’ & Munchin’ program, and this year the challenge will be titled “Road to the Super Bowl”. Movin’ & Munchin’ started Jan. 5, with the goal of getting to the Super Bowl (Indianapolis) from Green Bay by Super Bowl Sunday. 

Movin’ and Munchin’ Schools program takes an innovative approach to the problem of poor nutritional choices and lack of physical activity among school children, according to the website for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). The program encourages schools to develop creative strategies to promote healthy eating and increased physical activity among students and their families. Individuals earn “Movin’ and Munchin’ Miles” for various physical activities and wise nutrition choices.

Muskego Elementary is one of 115 participating schools, and will be considered for DPI awards up to $500 to use for improving their nutrition and physical education programs.
