Muskego Explorers Make a Great Showing in Competition

Law enforcement youth program competes in October and posts impressive results.

Lt. Dave Constantineau has called the Explorer's program his 'baby,' as it strives to develop youths from 15-20 in the practice of various police procedures and teaches teamwork.

The program has been in existence since 2003, and the teams hone the skills they learn through competition with other departments' teams.

Constantineau's pride in the program, and its participants, was apparent as he boasted their recent showings at events in and Dane County.

"I want to give some props to our police explorers. They competed in the 2011 Southeast Wisconsin Law Enforcement Explorer Exposition on October 8th. They competed against 10 other explorer posts from around the state, and earned 2nd place honors in the Stay Alive, Tactical Response event, and 3rd place honors in the Crime Scene Investigation event," he said. "They worked very hard to earn these awards, and we are very proud of them."

In addition, Constantineau tipped his hat to the team, which "brought home the hardware, taking a second place in vehicle contacts at the Dane County Deputy Sheriff’s Association Explorer Competition in Madison on Oct. 22nd."

Muskego's Explorer Post #128 assists MPD at various public events, and will be at Muskego’s Country Christmas on November 19, the Lion’s Club Breakfast with Santa on December 11th, and at Shop With A Cop in December.

The post elects its own officers, who officiate at meetings and are responsible for various activities that the post participates in.  Each fall, the post has an open house where anyone interested in joining the post can come, although new members are welcome year round.  For any young person interested in law enforcement, or not sure what they want to do, contact Muskego Police at 262-679-4130.
