Muskego Free Clinic is Ready but Needs a Director
Organizers have assembled the materials and talent needed to run a free clinic at the Old Town Hall, but need a medical director before the doors can open.
It's a sign of the economic times, but the need for low cost or free medical services have led a group of Muskego residents to organize a clinic, which will open on Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. in the lower level of Muskego's Old Town Hall.
Jillian Peterson, who is a nurse practitioner and volunteer at St. Leonard, saw a need in the community as families were experiencing job loss, and a loss of insurance as well. She partnered with Jennie Soika, another parent at the church school, and one thing led to another until a group of professionals formed to build the staff needed, and a deal was struck with the Muskego Historical Society to use the space in the Old Town Hall.
According to the clinic's flyer, services provided will include acute chronic illness management, nursing assessment, health education, blood pressure screening, referral and community resource information, limited pharmaceutical assistance and limited laboratory and radiology services.

What is needed before the doors can open is a medical director.
"We did have a physician who was going to fill this position, but as things took longer than expected to develop, he ended up having to withdraw," Soika said. "Basically, we are looking for a licensed physician to oversee all aspects of the clinic. While we expect that person to be on site to volunteer at least once every month, that person would not have to be present every Thursday."

The clinic will serve patients who are 18 years or older, have no public or private insurance, meet income guidelines (less than 200 percent of the Federal poverty level), are a resident of the area, can provide identification and income verification upon request.
The group is hoping to fill the position as soon as possible, and a job description for the medical director is available here.Β Volunteer applicationsΒ Β are also available on theΒ website eagleswingfreeclinic.org. If you have other questions, contact info@eagleswingfreeclinic.org.
