Muskego Lake District Makes Progress in Replacing Fleet
Numbers have come in on trucks needed as well as weed harvesters for the coming season

There will be two vehicles in the fleet for the Little Muskego Lake District (LMLD), replacing older vehicles that were retired last year. Plans to lease or rent the trucks needed will cost $2000 per month, with one vehicle being used for the six month season, and another for a three-month period to cover the height of the harvesting season. In part, the trucks assist in the transport of weeds to tipping sites.
Initial bids also came in on a weed harvester, with numbers for the most part falling within the budgeted cost of $175,000. Depending on the size of the cutter (nine or 10 feet) estimates came in at $162,000 to $184,000. In addition, the LMLD will look into a grant opportunity offered through the state, which can cover a fair percentage (up to 50 percent, although it's generally less) of the purchase cost. The grant becomes available when lake districts turn in old equipment, as the LMLD is doing with its old harvester.
