Muskego Library Adopts a Wait and See Approach for Concealed Carry, eBooks

Board votes to table discussion of concealed carry to see what other public buildings decide.

The topic of concealed carry was on the agenda of the board, which met Monday night. The adoption of a resolution allowing for concealed carry was tabled, however the inaction will mean that residents who can legally carry under the new state law can indeed enter the library with their concealed weapon.

Similar to the stance taken earlier by the Public Safety Committee, there is  'wait and see' philosophy, with the Library looking to other public buildings like City Hall for their reaction.

In addition, discussion on a request for capital funds from the County to assist in the purchase of eBook readers was also suspended for the time being. Library board member Aaron Robertson was not able to determine how much the library would request, or why the request was tabled.

The library recently named Bernie Bellin as its interim director with the departure of Jane Genzel, who resigned a couple of weeks ago.  We're hoping to catch up with Bellin in the coming days to gain more insight into what the library is looking to do with this technology and what the investment will be.
