Muskego Library Asks, 'How Smart are You About Money?'

Money Smart Week at the Muskego Public Library focuses on making smarter choices with finances for adults as well as children

Could you use a little help keeping more money in your wallet?Β 

The Muskego Public Library announced that it will join about 40 other states in presenting events during Money Smart Week, April 21-27, a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances.

The event was Created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the American Library Association in 2002, Money Smart Week partners now include businesses, financial institutions, non-profit organizations, and government agencies that come together once a year to stress theimportance of financial literacy and provide free educational seminars and activities throughoutthe week.

Locally, the library will be offering four events during this week designed to engage and educate patrons of all ages. Here are the programs planned:

β€œMoney Smart Storytime,” Tuesday, April 23 at 10 a.m.Β Make your kids Money Smart too, and bring your 3-5 year old for a special β€œMoney Smart Storytime” to teach our littlest patrons about the importance of saving.Β 

β€œProtecting Yourself from Identity Theft,” Wednesday, April 24, 6:30 p.m. Presented by Marsha Konz, former Assistant Vice President of Academics and Division of Education faculty member at Concordia University and an active AARP Fraud Fighter since 2008

β€œDuct Tape Wallets,” Thursday, April 25, 7 p.m.Β Teens can come to the library to make these one-of-a-kind and meet our new Teen Services Librarian AmandaΒ 

β€œA Piggy of my Own,” Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. Older kids can join Youth Services Librarian Penny Halle to paint their own piggy bank.Β Children 6-9 are welcome, but space at both children’s events is limited so visit the reference desk at the library to reserve your spot.
