Muskego Man Arrested for 7th OWI

Man had allegedly ridden up a barrier wall on I-43 and was weaving when Milwaukee County sheriff deputy pulled him over.

The following item is from a report from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office. In an incident where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A Muskego man was arrested for his seventh OWI yesterday afternoon, as a Milwaukee County sheriff’s deputy observed his vehicle drive up on a barrier wall and back into traffic southbound I-43 at West Holt Avenue.  According to a release from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, Timothy J. Bronstad, age 33, "then deviated between the distress and traffic lanes.  When the deputy stopped the vehicle and when she approached, the subject was not awake."

According to the report, Bronstad "performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests and said that he was taking prescription medications. He was taken in and booked on a charge of his seventh offense OWI-Drugs.  He was also issued citations for unregistered vehicle and lane deviation.

Bronstad’s prior convictions were in March 1996, September 1996, February 1999, November 2001, January 2004 and December 2008.  His first five convictions were alcohol-related.  The 2008 and current charge involve drug impairment.  He is on felony probation for a prior OWI and possession of a controlled substance.

Charges in Milwaukee County are pending.
