Muskego Man Pre-Empts Wisconsin Democratic Party in Recall Effort
David Brandt 'fulfills friends last request' according to papers filed, but state democrats say it's a ploy to confuse voters.
A Muskego man has filed the first request with the Government Accountability Board to recall Republican Governor Scott Walker.
On the application, David Brandt indicated the reason as being "to fulfill my friend's last request." Papers were filed by Brandt registered under a committee called "Close Friends to Recall Scott Walker."
The Wisconsin Democratic Party had planned on filing papers on Nov. 15 and have cried foul on the move, calling it a 'dirty trick' to "to deny democracy we have seen out of Scott Walker’s Republican Party and the extremist groups who finance his rent-to-own government," according to a release on their website.

With this earlier filing, Walker can now begin raising money to defend efforts to unseat him in the recall election.
State Republicans have maintained that they do not know Brandt, and even left-leaning sites like The Progressive have indicated that while "a box checked on the filing form indicates that Brandt doesn't intend to raise much money toward the effort... No evidence to suggest whether or not Brandt's move is part of a Republican (or Democratic) maneuver has yet to surface," and "according to the wisdc.org database, Brandt has no history of political donations."
