Muskego Moorland Retail Mall to Begin Construction

Shortly after confirming that Starbucks would be a part of a retail center at Moorland and Janesville Road, contractors say they're just waiting for the rain to quit to put shovels in the ground. How soon will it be done?

A job trailer for Briohn Builders has stood on the site of a retail mall at the corner of Moorland and Janesville Road, but unusually wet weather has hampered the start of construction, say developers.

Robert Schmidt of Boulder Venture, the construction firm in charge of the building, told Muskego Patch that the plans to begin digging are set, but "we were hoping to break ground (last) week, but given the weather we will be breaking ground this week."

However, despite the delay, schedules are expected to change the vacant lot into a commercial center in fairly short order.

"I think we are scheduled to be complete at the end of July, so retail stores would be able to open by the end of August," Schmidt said.

Developers had presented plans to the Muskego Plan Commission in back September 2012Β for the approximately 8,500 square foot building, and had indicated at that time that they were hoping for some restaurant space with a drive through facility.

Along with a Starbucks that was confirmed last week, Josh Minkin a leasing agent with Alpine Commercial, said other interested parties included a salon and a frozen yogurt business.
