Muskego Muscle: Results Come Subtlely, But Are Still Grand

My weight loss numbers won't garner me any face time on an infomercial, but when the clothes fit better and it's being done right, that's even better.

Accel Fitness Boot Camp continues, and just when we feel like we're seasoned enough, we're hit with a change in routine which leaves everyone in the class cursing instructor Corey Paszkiewicz.

And he has the nerve to laugh at our complaints.

It's part of the strategy to keep the body from getting too comfortable in a routine. So, if you're working out and it's beginning to feel effortless, it probably is, and it's time to change things up.

Generally, we've been working on a 'circuit' of six exercises (30 seconds on, 15 off) for four rounds. This particular day's menu of fun incorporated a total of eight exercises.  Picking pairs of exercises, we were to alternate every 30 seconds between them, without a rest for four times each. A one minute break, and it was onto the next set.

On paper, the amount of time spent was no longer than our normal 20 minute routine, but changing periods of rest and lengthening exercise illustrated in grand style just how used to 'routine' we had all become.

While I could feel a bit deflated for feeling so wiped out after four weeks, I was happy to check my weight on the scale, sure that the number would amaze me. The result: one half pound lost, not the hurrah moment I was expecting. However, I also can't ignore a pair of jeans that fit better, which is indeed cause for celebration.

So, I will take my tired body, and a determined attitude into the next class, because Christmas is just a day away.
