Muskego Police Department Graduates More Citizens

For a program that Muskego Police Lt. Dave Constantineau admitted he thought was not a good idea, the Muskego Police Citizens Academy graduated its 24th class Tuesday night, marking more than 200 residents who have participated in the program since 2001.

The ceremony held at the Moose Lodge featured recognition for the eight students who spent the last 10 weeks learning about police procedures and tactics, including virtual arms training, driving a police car and even live arms fire and getting tasered (if they so chose).

The program has proved Constantineau wrong, and he told the group that it has served to create a better relationship between the community and the department, and made residents more active participants in fighting crime.

Officer Gary Mrotek is the primary instructor in the class, and lauded two students for 'taking the full ride' of being tasered for five seconds.
