Muskego Police Offer Classes For Citizens

Step into the shoes of police, and learn to help out in emergencies - all for free.

The spring 'semester' for the Muskego Police Citizens' Academy will be beginning soon, and Officer Gary Mrotek, who oversees and instructs the classes, said there is still room for citizens who are interested in police procedures and tactics.

Academy 'cadets' take part in simulated tactical situations and learn fingerprint identification, along with offsite classes where they can drive police vehicles in an obstacle course. The final class also allows participants to test their target skills by firing live arms and of course safety along the way. The first class starts on Wednesday, March 7 at 7pm at the Muskego Police Department.

To enroll, complete a registration form and return to the department.

In addition, Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) is offered again this year in Muskego. CERT participants undergo a 20-hour training over three class periods to learn emergency preparedness, and in some cases become an extra level of assistance for law enforcement in various community emergencies (eg, severe weather aftermath).

CERT Training will be offered May 25 from 5-9pm, and May 26 and June 2 from 8am to 4pm. Generally the class has been offered at the Tess Corners Fire Station, and once the site is confirmed, we will update this information.
