Muskego Public Safety Will Invite County to Their Next Meeting: Will Anyone Come?

With 911 talks at an impasse, Police Chief is open to a meeting but is skeptical that County Executive, Supervisors will accept the invite.

Asking Public Safety Committee members for their support in making Muskego a primary public safety answering point (PSAP), Chief Paul Geiszler reaffirmed his belief that his operators could provide the best emergency service to the city.

The committee will draft and send a letter to County Executive Dan Vrakas as well as Emergency Preparedness Director Richard Tuma to stress the importance of taking over cellular 911 calls initiated within Muskego's city limits.

The committee will also extend an invite to county supervisors Dan Draeger and Peter Gundrum, who represent the city. Geiszler said an earlier meeting with Draeger left him feeling that he was siding with the county's stance to keep calls routed to their communications center (WCCC).

John Wisniewski, IT Director with the city, also said that the stalemate left him with the impression that the county "was uninterested in working with the city to work out an amicable agreement."

In turn, committee member said as the supervisors represented Muskego residents, it would be incumbent upon them to answer their questions.
