Muskego Public Works Keeps Focus on Flooding

Aside from scheduled updates on road projects, committee will discuss relief for several areas of the city plagued by flooding.

The Muskego Public Works Committee will meet Monday night at 6pm at City Hall. Along with a discussion and recommendations after a Pioneer Drive Public Informational Meeting the committee will again be talking about various areas of concern for flooding.

Previously left off of the list of projects the city engineers had to address after heavy rains in 2010, the committee will discuss and make recommendations on a  public works drainage project near S69 W17548 Redman Drive (Redman & Lake).

Another area of concern has been in the areas of Circle Drive/Richdorf Drive and Racine Avenue/Richdorf Drive. An analysis of these areas has been done and the committee will recommend an alternative for flood relief.

Perhaps the worst hit whenever heavy rains fall is the Tess Corners area, and the committee was going to look into what developments the city of New Berlin would be planning in the near future, and how it could impact the area. The hope is that retention ponds and other stormwater plans associated with the southern portion of New Berlin could help to alleviate flow of water into the  Tess Corners Creek Watershed.

There aren't any digital models of the floodplain of Tess Corners Creek at the southern Tess Corners Drive stream crossing, and the committee was hesitant to pay the estimated $29,000 to $32,000 for a study, which would only give officials an idea how much it would cost to alter the stream crossing.
