Muskego Residents Weigh in On Pioneer Drive

First public information meeting leads public works to nix water main on southern section of route.

About 75 residents attended a public information meeting on Pioneer Drive construction last week, and according to city engineer Dave Simpson, the response to installation of a watermain along the southern sector (south of Horn Brothers) was "disinterest."

A majority of the residents present, Simpson told the Public Works Committee Monday night, "were not interested in receiving city water, so I would say at the very least, it's not a priority."

The north section, which Simpson said was a relatively short portion, would feature the installation of water main, to serve in part 11 private residents as well as four city-owned properties.  Feedback from those residents had been positive in contrast with the other portion of the project. He estimated the cost would be $150,000, with assessments to be based on frontage.

A public hearing will be held before the city would proceed with any plans, and homeowners affected by the improvements would receive letters to explain what the impact would be on them individually.
