Muskego Road Projects Mark Progress
Janesville Road, Tess Corners are beginning to see attention, with a busy fall still ahead to prep before shovels hit the ground in 2012.

The Public Works Committee updated the status of several projects Monday night, one of which is the still long-awaited beginning of Janesville Road reconstruction.
City Engineer Dave Simpson said the newest date now for utilities construction to begin is October 27. Burial of electric and phone lines along Janesville Road from Moorland Road to Lannon Drive is necessary before the actual road construction can begin. Simpson explained that AT&T was going to place their lines in the same trench, but has since backed out of that plan, opting to dig their own, which he admitted will slow progress down a little.
Tess Corners Drive has begun survey work and soil borings, which will help formulate the engineering design. Astute residents have already noted the telltale flags that have marked the surveys. The construction of this road is also scheduled for 2012.

Simpson also updated the committee on present efforts to assist MMSD with infiltration and inflow pipes from private property owners, which appears frequently on public works agenda as PPII. He explained that 70 of 100 homeowners they had approached for these improvements have agreed to have the work done, which should take about two weeks to complete.
Not heard of it? The program was crafted by MMSD to provide communities with an economic incentive to reduce PPII within their sanitary systems, thereby alleviating the pressure to the entire system, especially during heavy rains. Storm water can enter the sewer system through such sources as defective pipes, pipe joints, connections or leaking manholes, or from foundation drains, connected downspouts and catch basins. Muskego is hoping to take advantage of the funding to improve these connections, while also helping homeowners prevent sewer back up.
