Muskego School Board Looks Ahead
Plans post-referendum will require an assessment of priorities.

The Muskego-Norway School Board met Monday night and revisited the results of the second school referendum, which failed in far greater proportions than the first one only a year prior.
While many on the board pointed to the economy and a public that 'just doesn't want its taxes raised,' others remained concerned what will need to happen next.
Brett Hyde said that repairs to the aging buildings with outdated infrastructure was much like "putting racing tires on a 1984 Aries K Car."

While no concrete solutions were expected at the board level Monday, they did give staff the job of creating a priority list for summer 2012 repairs, with the idea of improving what needs to be without overspending for facilities that may eventually be closed.
Citizen input at the meeting confirmed that while some were not interested in having any further debt or a higher tax bill, that they also needed to keep trying to recraft some solution. A few pointed to New Berlin's strategy of saving over a period of years for planned improvements and taking the dollars from the operating budget rather than needing to borrow.

Until a solution is reached, no facilities will be closed, at least in the short term.
