Muskego School District Will Hire Legal Counsel to Garner Remaining Credit from WEA Trust

Public school insurance carrier for the state is not crediting $82,000 back to the district as it learned it was seeking a different carrier; Muskego will join other districts to have Foley and Lardner represent them.

Scot Ecker brought a recommendation to the Muskego-Norway School Board Monday night to join with other districts in claiming unpaid funds from WEA Trust, which has been the insurance carrier for current and retired public school teachers in the state.

The funds are connected with the federal government's Early Retiree Reinsurance Program . MNSD has been receiving a credit from the trust monthly, but were recently told that WEA Trust would not continue, leaving $82,000 still owed to the district.

With a change to insurance carriers pending, the district said those credits were "rightfully ours."

Ecker stated that there were several school districts, including Hartland Lakeside,  in the area and across the state that are working together, and Foley and Lardner has agreed to represent the group.

He could not put a total dollar amount on what all of the credits would add up to for the group.
