Muskego Volleyball Teams Garner Bittersweet Results

Girls fall to Fondy, but boys advance in sectionals

The girls' varsity volleyball team's quest for a state title came to an end on Thursday as they fell to the Fond du lac High School Cardinals.

The Warrior girls were down 0-2 in the WIAA Division 1 quarterfinals on Thursday night at the Resch Center when they won the third set in a best of five match, but lost the next game to bring their season to an end.

In the meantime, the boys' varsity team was pulling out a victory in their sectional final game against New Berlin.  The teams kept the scores close throughout the five game match, trading wins (25-23, 20-25, 26-24, 19-25, 15-13).  The Warriors were down 4-8 in the fifth match before coming from behind to take the match.

“We’ve kind of been coming back all year long in all of our games. Why not?," Coach Joe Arbinger told Muskego NOW. "These guys have incredible heart and desire to win, and it shows. Coming back today, putting together that run to take the lead in that fifth game after being down by four points, it’s amazing."

Muskego’s will take its first-ever trip to the state tournament, which will take place next weekend at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Warriors will face Kaukauna at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11.
