Muskego Will Be In On State Road Projects Too
As if county and city construction efforts weren't challenging enough, here's a heads up on the state's I-43 project, which is likely to interrupt travel for many in Muskego beginning Feb. 20.

Janesville Road, Tess Corners Drive and Pioneer Drive are all roadways planned for reconstruction in 2012, so why not add the nearby interstate to the list?
Travelers who use I-43 at Racine Avenue will have to make adjustments and be aware of potential delays, no matter which direction they're headed. Crews will be set to roll out the orange barrels later next week on several projects on I-43 in Waukesha County, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). Work will take place on the following segments of I-43:
- Seven miles of I-43 southbound only between WIS 83 and WIS 164, February 15 through fall. (Northbound work will take place in 2013)
- I-43 over Martin Road bridges, February 20 through fall
- Five miles of I-43 in both directions between WIS 164 and Moorland Road, late February/early March through fall
Last resurfaced in the early 1990s, the pavement is in need of repair. The project will resurface the roadway to improve the riding surface and also rehabilitate bridge structures. Construction will be staged to keep most lanes open during peak drive times, and lanes will be restricted from 9am to 2pm and at night 9pm to 6am.

To perform bridge structure work, ramps will close for the short-term at Highway 83 in Mukwonago and at Highway 164 in Big Bend, but not consecutively. Signs will indicate detour routes during these weekend closures.
Martin Road/County U over I-43 will close beginning February 20 through October and to accomplish bridge widening and improvements with plans to finish all projects prior to Thanksgiving 2012. As always, motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays during off-peak hours.
