Llanas thought the course - and the team - was in good shape.

"The course and conditions were in perfect shape," she said, adding, "I was happy and even though we had a really tough week of practice I think we came out and gave a great team effort today.  We are a really young team this year, with only one senior on the varsity team, but we really showed a lot of composure in these first few races."

"Today was a great day for a race and I am really proud of how everyone put their best efforts forward," echoed Jansen. "We had a great week of practice and it showed today, we had a ton of personal bests from both the JV and Varsity teams.  We keep getting better and better every week and I think this is going to be a great season!"

The JV Team was again lead by Madison Francis who placed 6th overall with a time of 17:20.

Coach Raney said he was happy with the results, and felt the team is well on its way to reaching its goals.

"As a varsity team, I am very happy with how we ran together as a team.  This is very important for a cross country team to as a team because the place of each runner is so important," he said. "The results showed that (Saturday) as well. Freshman Gabby Mraz who was a 5th runner today placed higher than any other 5th runner we raced.   Over the last few weeks we have shown that we are off to a great start, our goal now is to stay healthy, humble, and hungry to achieve our season goals."

A strong showing from JV also drew praise from Raney.

"Our JV team really showed a lot of promise this week as well.  Almost every kid on the team improved on their best time," he said.

Lexie Tremble, a sophomore 1st runner, agreed that the improvement of the team only serves to create more excitement for the rest of the season.

"I am so proud of our team effort today!" she said. "We placed 4 girls in the top 20 overall with some great personal bests.  I get more and more excited for our team each week and I think if we keep working hard in practice, stay positive and healthy we are going to have a great season!"
