Muskego-Norway Begins Rollout Of Laptop Initiative

The district aims to put a laptop in the hands of every student over the next three years.

School officials say the initial rolloutΒ of theΒ Muskego-Norway School District's 1-to-1 laptop program is overβ€”and a success.Β

It was no easy task for school leaders to distribute some 900 Chromebooks to new fifth-graders and freshmen,Β Chief Information Officer Tony Spence told the School Board Monday night. But that's exactly what was accomplishedΒ last week,Β the first week of school.Β

"This is a process that goes from mass chaos to organized chaos, and that's about 90 percent of the battle," he said.

"We have to go from that organized chaos point and work toward perfection. We're looking for feedback from students, parents and especially teachers."

The initiative, which aims to put a laptop in the hands of every student, will continue to be phased inΒ over the next three years.

The district's goal isΒ to help students develop technology skills, collaborate better with staff and other students and get timely feedback from teachers.
