New Group Forming to 'Grow Women'

Women's Business Connections forms out of Muskego Chamber of Commerce, with the goal of helping area women develop professionally and personally

It stands to reason that with the top three areas in the city - government, schools and business - being represented by women, why not organize a group to help all women in Muskego develop their business, and their future?

"We want to provide a place for women to come and network, learn from each other about their areas of expertise, grow their business, and in short grow women" said Beth Schmidt, one of the group's co-founders.

An initial brainstorming session was held Wednesday at the Muskego Public Library, with a healthy turnout of about two dozen. Along with Schmidt, attorney Debra Skurulsky of Muskego Legal, and Gail Levin, owners of Curves are the group's founders.

The organization is a wing of the Chamber of Commerce, and women seeking to join the group must also become a member of the Chamber. You do not have to own your own business, but simply have a desire to connect with other women in the area to share ideas and a platform for pitching your company.

In addition, the group plans on providing educational programming in a format that allows busy women to attend over lunch.
