New Muskego Aldermanic Boundaries Raise Question: Will Harenda Run for District 3?

The final reading of the ordinance that will move ward boundaries among Muskego's Aldermanic Districts was approved on a 5-1 vote Tuesday night. (Alderman Noah Fiedler was absent.)

Redistricting is required as populations shift in a community to ensure an equal distribution of residents fall within each district for representation.

Alderman Kert Harenda voted in opposition, but you can't fault him for that.  In the process of moving boundaries, Harenda will cease to be a resident of the district for which he is alderman (district 2).

Harenda's entire neighborhood ( a triangle bounded by Moorland, College and Janesville) will be part of District 3 as of Jan. 1 2012. 

His options are to serve out the remainder of his term for district 2, which expires in April of 2013, or to resign and run in 2012 for district 3, which is currently Neil Borgman's seat.

Borgman teased Harenda, "you're not going to run against me are you?" which went unanswered, at least for now.
