Old World Wisconsin Opens in May With Full Slate of Events
After clean up events in April, May starts off busy at outdoor museum of Wisconsin's history in Waukesha County.

Old World Wisconsin will open May 1 with multiple events each weekend of the
month. This will be the first season for the site's new director Dan Freas at the helm, as he sets his sights on making the museum a favorite destination, located in the Milwaukee/Madison/Chicago 'triangle.'
Here are the events offered:
Rituals of Spring Weekends will be ffered every weekend in May, each with a different historic, seasonal theme. Saturdays 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sundays 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. (except May 6; see below)

o May 5-6: Sheep and Shearing (from fleece to fiber to finished product)
In addition, on the opening weekend OWW will present its 'Bustle Hustle 5K Run/Walk' on May 6. Registration opens 8:30 a.m., with the run/walk beginning at 10 a.m., and a youth 1K run at 11 a.m.
An opportunity to run or walk through the museum's farmsteads before the site opens at noon.

Mother's Day Brunch: May 13; seatings 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Moms receive free museum admission this day; "Women, Work and Reform" event will be held at the museum. The brunch buffet will be held in the historic Clausing Barn loft and includes:
cider roast chicken, roast beef carving station, smoked salmon, a vegetarian frittata, baked French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage links and bacon, breakfast potatoes, beef Stroganoff, vegetarian lasagna, mashed potatoes and gravy, pasta salad, an assortment of fresh fruits, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake, muffins, sweetbreads, scones, cake bites and cookies, plus coffee, tea, milk and juices.

Tickets: adults, $18; children (5-12), $9; 4 and under, free.o May 19-20: Plowing and Planting (readying the farms for the growing season)
o May 26-27: Memorials and Remembrances (honoring those who came before)
Admission: adults, $16; children (5-17), $9; (under 5), free; students and seniors (65+), $14; family admission, $43 (includes up to two adults plus dependent children 17 and under).
Rousing with the Roosters Breakfast: May 26, 6:30 – 9:30 a.m.
Guests are invited to help prepare a sunrise meal the same way many early immigrant farmers did, in the 1880s Koepsell farmhouse. As the stove is lit, they will chop, stir, season and fry to prepare a hearty German-American breakfast, including creamed bratwurst, scrambled eggs, seasonal vegetables, potatoes, biscuits, Johnny Cake (cornbread), velvet cake with fruit sauce, seasonal fruits and milk or coffee. Guests will also be welcome to feed the farm animals and tend to the garden, and clear the table and wash dishes after dining on the porch.
