Park Arthur: Gates Installed, and 'Play Ball!' Soon to be Heard

After-hour security in Park Arthur has prompted the installation of gates at the entrances, and if it ever stops raining, baseball's "opening day" is just around the corner

No word yet if there will be any official ceremony or ribbon cutting, but the long-awaited opening day of baseball is just around the corner at Park Arthur in Muskego.

Parks Director Craig Anderson confirmed Monday night to the park board that the large regulation-sized field will be ready for action on May 7. The field will be lighted and features 90-foot base paths, which is only the second such facility in Muskego parks. The other regulation-sized field is at Horn Field.

In addition, concerns over prior vandalism in the park by vehicles entering the area after hours prompted the park board to approve gates at both of the park's entrances. The first set has been installed on the south entrance along Martin Road, and will be opened at around 5 a.m. and closed around 10 p.m. by police patrols.

Expected construction at the College Avenue entrance will delay gates at that location until later in 2013.
