Park Vandalism Gets High Priority
After repeated incidents at Park Arthur and Lake Denoon Park, the park board looks for ways to prevent damage.

Beyond a youthful escapade with a truck, the tire marks on the Park Arthur sledding hill have caused some delays and required dollars to fix, and this is before the official opening of hill this coming winter.
Similarly, vandalism has been reported at Lake Denoon Park and occasionally at Bluhm Farm Park in past years, and it's apparently come to a point where the Parks and Recreation board will be discussing prevention at its meeting on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
One of the incidents at Park Arthur did result in the arrest of a Pewaukee man in 2011, but concern has been raised over what can be done to protect the parks, or to deter vandals. Parks Director Craig Anderson has said while Park Arthur in particular was under development, the placement of large boulders and concrete blocks should have served to keep the 'off-roaders' out, if people with the intent have the will, they can make ways to get in.

In addition to this issue, the meeting will cover:
- Muskego Warriors Youth Baseball brick fund-raiser and Park Arthur baseball field update: the group has been actively fundraising for fencing at the park, including sponsors to help fund various features within the park, including a future concessions area and dugout.
- A review of the Idle Isle Park concessions RFP/Agreement: as the first summer that featured an ice cream stand at the pavilion came to a questionable end, the board will discuss what is to come for the 2013 season
- Further discussion of Lake Access 12: Located near Lake Drive, a home owner's requestion to make improvements along an access road that also serves as an approach to his garage received mixed reviews from neighbors. Owner Jim Mortle had proposed purchasing a portion of the land, but a decision was held until the city could gather more information through a land survey. Related to this is an 'adopt-an-access' program that the board will discuss.
- Status of the Winter/Spring Program Guide
- The placement of a portable toilet at Park Arthur
- Status of a grant for a new ADA fishing pier at Idle Isle Park:Initially estimated to cost $65,000, the current wheelchair-accessible wooden pier has been deteriorating; the city's recent budget included costs to help pay for the structure, but its use may mean that there are grants available to offset the cost.
