Parks Recap: Park Arthur Fundraising, Baseball Fees and Gaining Restitution for Vandalism

Baseball clubs note progress on fundraising for large field at Park Arthur, fees for traveling teams discussed, and other notes from Monday's meeting

Here's a roundup of other agenda items discussed at Monday's Park and Recreation board meeting:

Jensen Park is awaiting repairs to a window that was smashed by vandals earlier this year; according to Parks Director Craig Anderson, two minors had confessed and agreed to each pay $187 in restitution, however no money has been received yet. Anderson said the department may take further action to collect the money if it's not received by June 14.

A $10 per date usage fee will be assigned to traveling teams using Muskego baseball fields for the 2012 season.

An agreement was approved for Pepsi vending machines in Idle Isle and Veteran's Memorial Parks. Previously, the agreement gave $5,000 per year to the department from the sale of beverages from the machines, but usage has been low. The new agreement will instead give the department a 25 percent portion from the sales, which will keep the machines in the parks.

Muskego Warriors Youth Basketball will again operate within the Parks Department programs; the league features teams in 4th - 8th grades.

The Warriors Youth Baseball league has updated its progress in fundraising through sponsorships for the large field at Park Arthur. The select league has so far raised $17,800, with additional interest from other sponsors and leagues.

Anderson also noted that sloughing of dirt was noted over the early spring season on one side of the sledding hill at Park Arthur in the wake of recent rains, but that it was not as severe as in the previous year. Grass matting will be applied to the east side of the hill where the damage occurred.
