Pictures of Plane That Landed In Muskego Indicate Lots of Room But Rough Terrain

Muskego Police responded to a call of a plane that had to emergency land in a farm field, and pictures indicate there was plenty of 'runway,' but terrain a little treacherous

Police photos of the Cessna single-engine plane that had to ditch in a farm field in Muskego reveal a craft that was lucky to have plenty of room to land, but also one that was lucky the bumpy terrain didn't cause more damage.

The plane had to ditch on Thursday, Jan. 19 around 3pm, on its way to Chicago from Crites Field in Waukesha. The pilot, a 25-year-old man from Markesan, and his passenger, a 43-year-old Hartland man, were heading south to take aerial photos, but experienced engine trouble.

The airplane finally came to rest in an open field between Henneberry Drive and Parker Drive approximately one quarter mile east of Crowbar Drive, and both the pilot and the passenger were able to walk away uninjured, according to police.

While that area of Muskego offers thousands of open acres, plowed fields can spell trouble as the washboard terrain can easily grab a tire and bring down the nose of the plane hard. Pictures of the scene showed no damage to the aircraft, and a somewhat straightforward track as the plane landed and stopped.
