Pochowski Qualifies for Olympic Trials, But Will Have to Go for Gold in 2016
An impressive showing by Sami Pochowski, a 2012 Muskego grad, who qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke last week, but missed the semi-finals by about 1.5 seconds.

Samantha Pochowski, a 2012 graduate of Muskego High School, was one of 153 women who qualified in the 100 Breaststroke for the Olympic Trials last week. Â
Preliminaries were held on the morning of June 26, and the top 16 go on to swim in a semi-final, which was held that night. The swimmers with the top eight times from the semi-final go on and swim in a final on June 27, with the top two going to the Olympics.Â
Pochowski placed was 39th after the qualifying heats, but the showing was still impressive, placing her in the top 25 percent.
"It is quite an accomplishment to be one of the top 40 swimmers in the nation. She went into the meet seeded 46th and was approx 1.5 seconds from the top 16," said Scott Kugi, Activities Coordinator at MHS. Pochowski recorded a time of 1:10.92 in her trial.

She is attending, and will compete at Florida State University with an eye toward the 2016 Olympics.
