Police Looking to Fill Positions

Clerk positions available with police and municipal court, but will only be accepted until May 18 at 8 a.m.

An earlier post from the Muskego Clerk's office was repeated by the Muskego Police Department, so in the interest of providing the best candidate pool to serve police and the municipal court, here's a reminder of available positions there:

The Muskego Police Department is currently accepting applications to fill two full time clerk positions and establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

Clerks perform clerical, public contact and administrative support tasks along with relieving telecommunicators for breaks/vacations. (Telecommunicators answer telephones, 911 calls, radio transmissions, enter data, and dispatch rescue/fire.)

The position pays $13.97 - $18.27 per hour, with the salary dependent on qualifications. Benefits include Wisconsin retirement fund; health insurance; life insurance; sick leave; dental; paid holidays - 10; clothing allowance; longevity pay; deferred compensation; and vacation. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years old; hold a high school diploma; have no felony convictions; good verbal and written communication skills; react quickly and effectively to stressful situations; be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; have clear and concise speech; and the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously.

Muskego Municipal Court is also hiring a part-time Deputy Court Clerk to begin work effective June 1, 2012. This is a part-time position of 20 hours each week with some overtime to be expected especially on days when court is in session. Court is in session three days each month.

The qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training in legal secretarial skills, one to two years of clerical/technical experience or any combination of education and/or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Good word processing and basic personal computer skills are required.

The Deputy clerk also deals with the public on a daily basis. Municipal Court Clerk experience is a plus but not required. Training on use of the TIPPS software court program will be provided. The Deputy Clerk works under the direction of the Court Clerk and reports to the Municipal Judge. Hourly rate starts at $14.34, with a maximum rate of $18.73 after 42 months of continuous employment.
