Readers Write: Recall Group Will Not Hold Off Petition Drive on Saturday
A call for holding off on political activities on Easter weekend has been turned down.

To the editor:
We reached out to Muskego for Ethical Government (MEG) asking for a moratorium on recall signature gathering for this weekend due to the spiritual nature of the weekend. Â This is Holy Week and of course tomorrow is Holy Saturday and Sunday is Easter, the pinnacle of the Christian Church's calendar. Â We should be honoring our faith, the ultimate sacrifice God's Son, Jesus Christ, made to save us from sin and our families and loved ones. Â WE SHOULD NOT be focused on gathering signatures or protesting against it.
Chuck Wichgers was called upon to act as a go between and did call on Kurt Harenda, Dan Soltysiak and Neil Borgman to contact the group MEG and ask them to honor this weekend, which they did. They refused the suggestion and stated they would not be willing to do so.  Sadly the signature gathering will go on as scheduled despite this reasonable request.

As spokes person for STAND UP MUSKEGO I am greatly saddened and we are greatly conflicted with having to spend this weekend opposing this frivolous effort instead of focusing on things that are much more important. Â We hope the great joy of this faith filled mystery engulfs the hearts of all our fellow citizens and that God Blesses each and every one of them.
We also ask that Church leaders from around our community and  those who believe as we do that this weekend is not an appropriate time to be collecting signatures stand with us and voice their opposition.

Happy Easter
