Relay Will Light the Night At MHS June 1
Annual relay on the track of Muskego High School raises money, hopes and awareness of cancer and will join with Jammin' on Janesville traffic to invite community along
Not to be overshadowed by the large festival happening along Janesville Road on the same night, the American Cancer Society will again hold its Relay for Life on Friday, June 1 at Muskego High School. However, the events will combine earlier in the evening to remind Jammin' on Janesville attendees of the annual fundraiser and awareness event which lasts through the night around the high school's track.
Rachel Orlopp, organizer for Muskego's event, said they have 12 team registered so far involving more than 100 participants. The event will begin Friday, June 1st at 5pm, which is the same time as the street festival just to the south, but the events will comingle to make sure no one is forgotten.
An opening ceremony for the Relay is then scheduled for 7 p.m., and continue until Saturday at 8am. Jammin' on Janesville will be included on their route prior to participants walking around the track throughout the night, shuttle parking will be available at the high school for Jammin' attendees and Relay for Life is the festival's nonprofit partner for June.

Orlopp said their fundraising goal is $26,000, and help is needed to reach it.
"Right now we have roughly $8,000 collected," she said, and added that a pledge collection will help to raise that number. "We are having our bank night Tuesday from 5 -7 p.m. at Alpine Lanes. Â At least one representative from each team should attend the Bank Night to turn in any pledges their team has collected as well as pick up the team's t-shirts and final Relay information."
Friday night will feature a variety of activities from a vendor fair to a silent auction and children's activities, including a magician, clown and face painting. A luminaria ceremony will start at 9:30 p.m., and is the most moving part of the evening, according to volunteers.
