Roads Recap: Racine Avenue Rec Trail Likely to Start Before Janesville Road

The which will close the loop around the downtown area, is 95 percent done with the design phase of planning. This means that once spring arrives, it's likely that crews will be at work to build the trail on the west side of Racine between Woods Road  and Janesville Road.

Dave Simpson, Director of Public Works told the Public Works Committee Monday night that the construction should go smoothly, as much of the approximately one mile stretch will not involve residential property.

He told Muskego Patch that the goal will be to get started in spring, with an end date occurring before the start of school in September. The trail will be a final link in a loop that connects Woods, Moorland and Janesville together.

Janesville Start Will be Later, But Finish Expected on Time

However, Janesville Road phase II reconstruction won't get started until mid-June, but planners say the end date for that portion of the major road project remains as November, much as it had in the 2012 project. Utilities crews have already begun tree clearing and grading to bury overhead lines from Racine Avenue to Lannon Drive.

Additional median plantings will take place along with the much-talked-about second lift of asphalt in April or May, depending on weather conditions.
