School Board To Make Final Recommendations on Staff Cuts

Three positions could be eliminated, and two may face a reduction in hours as part of upcoming school year budget.

Three teaching positions may be cut, and two others face a reduction in hours, if the Muskego-Norway School Board maintains the preliminary recommendations for non-renewals that were discussed at its previous meeting. Monday night's meeting, which will take place at the Educational Services Center at 7:30 p.m., will feature a final decision on the cuts.

Two part-time middle school math coaches and a part-time elementary teacher as well as a reduction in hours for one middle school Spanish teacher and an art teacher were listed in the first draft of non-renewals that are due to the state by the end of the month.

The district has been cautious in its expectations for state aid, and has been  projecting a 4.89 percent levy increase, which already reflects the teacher nonrenewals.
